Come enjoy dark skies in a quiet location. A great place to work on your AL certs or meet new friends. We are located in West Central Illinois near Barry. Not far from Hannibal Mo where Mark Twain was born. Spend the day exploring all the sites where Mark Twain lived and wrote his books. Shopping and Golf Courses are near by. Enjoy nice quiet dark skies. Very few cars go by. Please visit our web site to get your pre-registration form and get driving directions. Signs located along route to get here. Indiana Family Star Party/GREATCon 2010, Frankfort IN, Aug. 5
FSP is held under the dark rural skies of Camp Cullom, home of the Prairie Grass Observatory. Speakers, vendors, and many scopes to look through. Also GREATCon contests. Fees: $20 individual or $30 Family (if pre-registered by July 26) for the full weekend, includes camping on observing field. PAS Saturn, Mars, Venus Star Party, Paradise Valley Community College, Phoenix AZ, Aug. 5
The Phoenix Astronomical Society & Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix will be holding a public Star Party to view Saturn, Mars & Venus on the PVCC campus by G-147 from 6pm to 10pm. Everyone is Welcome. Bring the entire family. RSVP is required by email at Events@pasaz.org or by Phone (Terri) 602-561-5398 by day before event. Should the weather cancel this event, your RSVP will ensure you get a notice about the cancellation. Phoenix has Monsoons that cancel events for the months of July & August.
Beginner Astronomy Class- Richland College, Dallas TX, Aug 5
Members of the Texas Astronomical Society hold a Beginner Astronomy Class every month on the first Friday evening at 7:30pm, at Richland College, Dallas, Texas. The class is free and open to the general public. The class subject changes every month. See the TAS Calendar for information about the free outreach event. Park in LOT E, the Yegua Building is next to the parking lot, classroom #101. Class starts promptly at 7:30pm. Astroblast 2010, Franklin PA, Aug. 10-15
Astroblast 2010, the annual star party of the Oil Region Astronomical Society in Northwestern Pennsylvania will take place August 10 – 15, 2010 in Two Mile Run County Park at the site of the Oil Region Astronomical Observatory. The event will include a variety of professional and amateur speakers. Additional events include an astronomy yard sale, messier marathon, nature talks and walks, kids camp, and plenty of dark sky observing. The Observatory is situated in a 15 acre field. Tent and drive in campers are welcome. Our skies are good for the eastern U.S., with a limiting magnitude of about 6.3 on a transparent moonless night. Mingo Public Star Party, Mononghela PA, Aug 13 - 14
Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh - Mingo Creek Park Public Star Party Mingo Creek Park Observatory: The Observatory is located 10 miles east of Washington PA in Nottingham Township in Mingo Creek County Park. The park is in the northeast section of Washington County. The observing location is on the top of the hill past Shelter 10. The park is located off Route 88 or Route 136 in Washington County. See the back of this flyer for the map to the observatory site. The Mingo Creek Park Observatory has two permanently mounted telescopes in separate rooms, a refractor and a reflector telescope. The building also houses a small planetarium where the night sky can be displayed indoors when there’s bad weather, or for special educational events.
